About Dr. Ginger Garner

Ginger Garner

Hello and welcome!

I’m so glad you stopped by to get to know me. Let me introduce myself.

I am an integrative PT, educator, and longtime advocate committed to making physical therapy services accessible, affordable, and equitable, especially for pelvic health. I am the CEO of Living Well Institute which I founded in 2000 to teach therapists how to use integrative therapies (Yoga, Functional and Lifestyle Medicine) in clinical and health promotion practice. I am the author of Medical Therapeutic Yoga, published in Italian and English and slated for 3 more foreign translations. I am an international speaker, having presented at over 2 dozen conferences worldwide and taught continuing education coursework in Yoga, Lifestyle & Functional Medicine across a range of topics impacting the pelvic girdle in the US, Canada, and Europe.

I am a two-time graduate of UNC Chapel Hill (Go Heels!), where I received my Master and Doctorate degrees in Physical Therapy. I also completed graduate studies at the UNC School of Public Health. I have specialized training in pelvic health, board certification in Lifestyle Medicine, Functional Medicine, Dry Needling, Visceral Mobilization, Manual Therapy, Yoga Therapy, Ayurveda, and Pilates and have spent 26 years designing best-evidence integrative physical therapy programs.

I am an active member of APTA, serving as the Legislative Chair for APTA NC Chapter and a Key Congressional Contact for the Private Practice Section. My latest projects are a chapter contribution to Improving Women’s Health Across the Lifespan and an upcoming textbook on Integrative & Lifestyle Medicine in PT Practice.

I own and operate a pelvic and orthopedic private practice, EudeMOMia®, in Greensboro, NC where I live with my 3 sons, partner, and rescue Labrador, Scout Finch.

MY PROFESSIONAL JOURNEY – HOW I CAME TO BE A PT THROUGH YOGA

“I’ve been using Yoga & Pilates, combined with physical therapy, since the 1990’s, long before it was cool or trendy. It’s just a far more effective combination. I began to document my methods on this integrated approach, which ultimately gave birth to two things: my textbook, Medical Therapeutic Yoga, and creation of the first yoga certification for licensed healthcare professionals in 2001, the Professional Yoga Therapy Institute,® which in 2020 became Living Well Institute.”

MY PERSONAL JOURNEY – A MOTHERS RETURN TO WORK STORY

Cultural conditioning has taught us to inadvertently misuse the word “work” by reserving it for activity that only happens outside the home. That marginalizes the great work of caregiving, whether for the young or old. The truth is…I’ve never really stopped working, so telling my “return to work” story means acknowledging a bigger societal issue: After a woman gives birth, using the phrase “return to work” implies that she wasn’t working when she grew that new human being and birthed him or her– and that devalues the work of mothering and hurts us all.”
