Last week we shared the work of Preeti Girisha, PT, PYT-C, who brought Medical Therapeutic Yoga to Starwood Montessori School in Frisco, Texas. Preeti had the opportunity to teach the students foundational MTY poses and breath, giving them the tools to thrive.
Starwood Montessori School also invited Preeti to conduct chair yoga with the schools teachers. During this session in mid-October, she lead around 40 teachers and staff through her session.
The intension of me conducting this session was to help them understand that
“STRESS” in their teaching environment if not managed can lead to chronic illness both at physiological level and at psychological level. We incorporated breathing techniques and asana, marma point massage (Indra basti) along with energy distribution at the 3rd chakra and adrenal gland restoration to cope with “ STRESS”.
Following their lesson, the teachers expressed gratitude and requested Preeti teach regular courses for staff. She will also begin an aftercare yoga program for the students.
We are so excited to see the difference Preeti will make with MTY at Starwood Montessory School!

True Self Therapy was born in 2014 during my PYT certification program. I was convinced that the true healing comes from addressing the bio-psycho social aspect of a person and not merely treating the symptom with my conventional PT approach.
PYT program and its evidence base approach of yoga as medicine has given me tools to practice. Become an advocate for patient’s and guide them to achieve optimal health.”
